Time tested quality:
The metal framework of our awnings is selected from either schedule 40 aluminum pipe or schedule 40 hot dipped galvanized steel pipe, providing increased frame strength and product durability. We do not use the thin walled steel tubing used by most of our competitors.
We go beyond the minimum code requirements providing extra truss work and bracing. While this adds some cost, the added benefits of increased frame strength stiffness and product durability justify the investment
All frame corners are mitered and fully welded together completely sealing the pipe interior from the corrosive effects of moisture and salt air.
No matter how well an awning is engineered and fabricated, it can still fail if it is not properly installed. The most critical aspect of installation as it relates to wind hurricane resistance is anchorage. This involves the location, type and strength of the connections from awning to the building structure or foundation.
Awnings subjected to high winds develop considerable uplift forces which must be resisted through columns firmly attached to concrete or out arms securely attached to the building. Improper attachment can not only lead to the failure of the awning itself, but can cause extensive damage to the customers’ building should it become only partly detached. This happened countless times during Hurricane Wilma and caused extensive damage to roofs and related structures.
